Copy-editing refers to the process of textual refinement through revision and reworking. As it encompasses virtually any aspect of the written word, from grammar, orthography and punctuation to style and coherence, formatting and accuracy as well as structural and subject matters, it is crucial to precisely specify your requirements beforehand. I am happy to edit any text genre and content - whether it is web copy, a PhD thesis or an ambitious literary project. Please note, however, that, as regards content, I am only able to revise your work within the limits of my expertise. Generally, I offer support on three consecutive levels:
- On a first basic level I proofread your text checking the grammar, spelling, punctuation and capitalisation.
- In a second step I comb your text for accuracy, cohesion, comprehensibility, formatting and paragraphing.
- Finally, I address style and diction. I make sure you are using both the appropriate register and tone, that the text reads coherently and flows smoothly so that it keeps the reader's interest. Depending on the topic and overall complexity I may also be able to help developing your text.
