About me

I am an Edinburgh based translator in the language pair English-German who also offers interpreting as well as copywriting and editing services, the last two exclusively in my native language German.

With a strong academic background, solid expertise across a wide range of fields and industries and a high degree of professional commitment, I can say I take pride in the quality of my work. As part of my academic studies, I specialised in financial, technical and tourism translation at Johannes Gutenberg-Universität Mainz, Germany, from which I graduated with a master's degree in Applied Linguistics, Cultural Studies and Translation in 2011.

At that time, I had already gained experience in print and TV journalism as well as some valuable insight in the museum sector through internships and voluntary work. For several years I co-hosted a German film festival and co-curated the film programme for a local German arthouse cinema - projects that corresponded with my studies of film and philosophy from which I graduated with an MSc in Film Studies at the University of Edinburgh in 2004.

Besides, I have an innate passion for literature, a broad philosophical, political and historical knowledge, and a genuine interest in culture and the arts. I abide by the code of professional conduct of BDÜ, Germany's largest professional association of translators and interpreters, of which I have been a member since 2012.
